Hurricanes Tie For Eighth at Allstate Intercollegiate

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Miami women’s golf team concluded play at the 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The Hurricanes tied for eighth after it tallied a three-round score of 887.
 
The Hurricanes posted a third-round score of 294.  The three-day event was held at the par 72, 6,239-yard English Turn Golf and Country Club.
 
Miami was led by junior Daniela Darquea, who began the day in 28th place. She then moved up nine spots to finish 19th after carding a one-under-par score of 71 to close out play.
 
Freshman Dewi Weber posted four birdies in the final round. Her first three birdies came on the front nine followed by one birdie on the back nine. She finished the event with a three-round total of 221. 
 
Freshman Luiza Altmann had an eight-shot improvement from her second round as she posted a third-round score of 75. Altmann tallied five birdies in the third round, posting two on the front nine and three on the back nine.
 
Florida won the tournament after carding a three-round-score of 862. Michigan State’s Sarah Burnham won medalist honors with a final score of 211.
 
The Hurricanes return to action on Feb. 29 as they play host to the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla.
