Hurricanes Golf Finishes Tied for 11th at the UCF Challenge
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team finished tied for 11th at the UCF Challenge on Tuesday after it tallied a three-round score of 909.
The Hurricanes posted a third-round score of 303. The three-day event was held at the par 72, 6,349-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Miami was led by freshman Dewi Weber, who began the day in 19th-place. She then moved up 14 spots to finish fifth after carding a one-under-par score of 71 in the third round. Her fifth-place finish was a season best.
Weber posted two birdies on the back nine. She finished the tournament with a team-best seven birdies over the three-day event. The freshman finished with a three-round tally of 219.
Junior Delfina Acosta posted three birdies in the third round. Acosta’s first birdie came on the front nine followed by two birdies on the back nine. Acosta tallied a three-round total of 231.
In her debut for the Hurricanes, freshman Luiza Altmann tied for 44th after carding a three-round total of 229.
Houston won the tournament after carding a three-round-score of 885. East Carolina’s Frida Gustafsson Spang won medalist honors with a final score of 213.
The Hurricanes return to action on Feb. 21 as they participate in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La.
