The Game
Miami returns to the BankUnited Center for a pair of home games, beginning with No. 9/8 Louisville on Feb. 3 at 8 p.m., followed by Clemson on Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
The Series
Miami is 2-7 in the all-time series against Louisville, which dates back to the 1950-51 season. The Canes are 2-4 at home against the Cardinals, 0-2 on the road and 0-1 at neutral sites. Louisville won the last matchup with Miami, defeating the Canes, 82-59, on Dec. 23, 2006 in Louisville. Miami is 1-1 vs. UofL when the Cards are ranked, winning against No. 7 in January of 1961, and falling to No. 10/10 in December of 2005.

Cardiac Canes – Year Two
Miami’s one-point setback to Florida State marked the Hurricanes’ seventh game this season that has been decided by five points-or-less.
In 2013-14, Miami led the ACC having played 13 games decided by five points-or-less or in overtime. Miami played five overtime games and seven others were decided in the final minutes. Miami was 1-4 in overtime that season and 3-4 in close games that ended in regulation.
Rodriguez Closing in on 1,000 Career Points
Point guard Angel Rodriguez is closing in on 1,000 career points. The native of Cupey, P.R., scored 640 points in two seasons at Kansas State and has recorded 281 points through 21 games at Miami. On Dec. 8 against Savannah State, teammate Sheldon McClellan topped the 1,000-point plateau.

Miami is 3-2 against ranked teams this season, including 1-1 against Top 5 teams and 2-1 against Top 10 teams. In the two losses, one was an overtime defeat, and the Canes came up five points short in the other outing. The Canes are 1-1 at home and 2-1 on the road. vs. Top 25 opponents.

Jekiri’s Junior Season Numbers Continue to Improve
Junior Tonye Jekiri has posted four double-doubles in his last 10 games, including three in ACC play. Jekiri has posted 10+ rebounds 11 times, and in six of the last eight games. This season he has 10+ points in seven outings. Jekiri has led the team in scoring in two of the past three games with 13 both at Syracuse and against Georgia Tech.
The native of Nigeria has nearly doubled his output in points and rebounds each season as a Hurricane. The 7-footer is averaging 8.1 points and 10.0 rebounds this season, up from 4.2 ppg and 5.5 rpg his sophomore year and 1.4 points and 1.6 rebounds his rookie campaign. Through 21 games, he has already surpassed his 22 assists from last year, posting 29 in 2014-15, and blocks with 32, up from his sophomore total of 29.
Coach L Notches Career Win No. 550
In his first victory against Syracuse, Coach Jim Larrañaga won his 550th career game. Larrañaga’s 100th win came in 1991 against Kent State while at Bowling Green. While at George Mason, win No. 200 came in 1997 vs. Northeastern, No. 300 in 2003 against East Carolina and No. 400 in 2008 vs. William & Mary. In 2012, the Canes defeated Georgia Tech for Coach L’s 500th.
Three Canes Ranked in Top 100 Nationally
Junior Tonye Jekiri averages 7.2 defensive rebounds per game, which is the 11th-best average in the country. Jekiri is also No. 16 in rebounds per game, No. 17 in total rebounds, No. 107 in double-doubles, No. 83 in offensive rebounds and No. 104 in blocked shots per game and No. 102 in total blocks.
Junior Angel Rodriguez is No. 24 in steals per game, No .30 in total steals, No. 72 in total assists and No. 74 in assists per game.
Junior Sheldon McClellan is No. 79 in field goal percentage (50.5%).
Rodriguez Shines in the Second Half
Senior guard Angel Rodriguez knows how to finish a game. In nine games, he has scored double-digit points in the second stanza, including 22 at Florida, 17 against Virginia, 15 at Duke and 14 vs. Boston College. Only twice (10 vs. Howard, 11 vs. Providence) he has scored double-digits in the first stanza.
