CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Stephanie Wagner and Lina Lileikite upset the sixth-ranked doubles team in the nation on Saturday, beating Auburn’s Emily Flickinger and Pleun Burgmans in the semifinal of the orange doubles flight.

The day began with a continuation of the first round of singles from Friday afternoon. The first singles match to be completed was 18th-ranked Miami’s Wagner who overpowered her University of Pittsburgh opponent Amber Washington by a final score of 6-1 and 6-1.

On one of the next courts over, Miami’s Clementina Riobueno handled her opponent in a similar fashion, defeating North Florida’s Esther Zuniga in straight sets 6-2 and 6-4.

In the most impressive result of the day, Miami’s doubles team of Wagner and Lileikite upset sixth-ranked Auburn tandem of Flickinger and Burgmans to advance to the final round of the orange bracket. They take on fellow University of Miami teammates, and third ranked Monique Albuquerque and Clementine Riobueno. This final round thriller was cut short due to the thunderstorms. The score of the match currently sits at 5-6 in favor of Wagner and Lileikite.

Miami’s freshman team of Wendy Zhang and Sinead Lohan also advanced to the green brackets final round to face Auburn’s tandem of Reka Muller and Jen Pfeifler, after defeating Esther Zuniga and Quetzali Vazquez of UNF, 8-5 in the semifinal round. This match was cut short due to the weather.

Both of these doubles matches will remain playing Sunday morning at 8 a.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

In the green bracket, Miami’s Silvia Fuentes and Judith Bohnenkamp fell to Auburn’s Mary Katherine Lewis and Andrea Dikosavljevic by a final score of 3-8. Unfortunately, after advancing to the consolation semifinals round, they were defeated in a close match, 8-7 (7-4), by a special combination team of Molly Wickman (Pittsburgh) and Michelle Valdez (North Florida).
