CARY, N.C. – No. 18 Stephanie Wagner won the singles championship and third-ranked Monique Albuquerque and Clementina Riobueno won the doubles title on the final day of the Duke Fab Four Invite Sunday.

Wagner defeated Florida’s No. 14 Brianna Morgan for the second straight time to win the black flight singles championship. The junior from Amberg, Germany took down the Gators’ top player in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. The last time the two met — in the NCAA Singles Championship in Athens, Ga., — Wagner also won in straight sets.

Albuquerque and Riobueno continued to prove their ranking as a top-rated doubles team, defeating Ole Miss’ Natalie Suk and Zalina Khairudinova by a score of 8-5. In more doubles action, Sinead Lohan and Wagner handed Duke’s Ester Goldfeld and Samantha an 8-1 loss in the third-place match of the blue doubles flight. Silvia Fuentes and Wendy Zhang completed the Canes’ undefeated day in doubles with a hard-fought 8-7(5) win against Florida’s Peggy Porter and Stefani Stojic.

The Hurricanes picked up four singles victories on the day, including Wagner’s title-clincher. In the consolation final of the black singles flight, Zhang defeated Furman’s Ansley Speaks 6-4, 6-4 and Sinead Lohan took down Alabama’s Natalia Maynetto in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. In the Canes’ lone three-set singles match of the day, Albuquerque prevailed 6-1, 6-7(4), 6-4 against North Carolina’s Cassandra Vazquez.

Facing the third-ranked singles player in the country in Hayley Carter, Riobueno was taken down 6-2, 6-4 in the third-place match of the blue singles flight. Silvia Fuentes also fell in her final match of the tournament to Zalina Khairudinova by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
