@CanesVB Sweeps Prairie View A&M, 3-0

FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Miami volleyball team closed out its stay at the TCU NIKE Invitational with a three-set victory over Prairie View A&M.

The Canes and Lady Panthers battled in a tight first set that Miami took, 26-24. The Hurricanes took the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-10, to secure the win. As a team, the Hurricanes hit .312 and totaled 10 team blocks.

Senior Emani Sims led the Hurricane attack with 10 kills. The middle blocker, who was named to the all-tournament team following the match, also added four blocks and a service ace.

Outside hitters Savanah Leaf and Kelsie Groot each chipped in with nine kills. Groot led Miami with 12 digs, while Leaf led the Canes with five blocks. Junior Taylor Scott added seven kills and five digs, while freshman Sakile Simmons recorded five kills and four blocks in the win.

Freshman setter Haley Templeton had three service aces and dished out 29 assists to keep the Canes offense going, while junior defensive specialist Kalysta White led Miami with four aces and added 10 digs.

The Canes are back in action next weekend at the HotelRED Invitational in Madison, Wisc. Miami will play three matches, facing Wisconsin on Friday and Ball State and Missouri State on Saturday.
