Meier, Saunders to Team Up in Charity Ride

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Miami Hurricanes head women’s basketball coach Katie Meier and senior Krystal Saunders will participate in the Nothing But Nets Charity Ride on Thursday.

With World Malaria Day right around the corner, Nothing But Nets champion Ruth Riley has teamed up with FlyWheel Sports Miami to create a workout “that will not only change your body, it will help change the world.”

Teaming up with Riley, a  women’s basketball great, Meier and Saunders will participate in the 44-minute charity ride that will help raise money for malaria prevention.

Malaria – a disease spread by a single mosquito bite – is one of the leading killers of children in Africa.  Every 60 seconds, a child dies from malaria, which is easily prevented through the use of an insecticide-treated net.  A net costs just $10 to purchase, deliver, and educate the recipient on its proper use.
