Raising Canes: One Family

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes family spreads far beyond any individual team or sport at the University. Here is the story of senior women’s basketball player Krystal Saunders and how the Miami family was there to support her.

On the night of the Miami Hurricanes’ women’s basketball win against Missouri, Krystal was with family members at her cousin’s sweet sixteen celebration when her mother received a phone call. Kala Williams learned her home had burnt down after an electrical fire caused the home to catch fire. Unfortunately, the family lost everything in the destruction.
