ACC-Big Ten Challenge
The Hurricanes will participate in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge for the fifth time this year when the team travels to Minneapolis, Minn. to take on the Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota. Miami is 2-2 in ACC-Big Ten Challenge games, with its two wins coming in back-to-back years: Penn State (2012) and Michigan State (2011). 

The Series
The Hurricanes have played the Gophers three times in history and trail 2-1 in the all-time series between the two schools. The Hurricanes won the first game by a score of 77-64 back in 1986. The following year, playing at Minnesota, Miami fell 76-72, and most recently, in 2001, the Gophers left Coral Gables with an 80-65 victory.

The Opponent
Minnesota enters the game with a 7-2 record and is coming off a loss to Hawaii in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Showdown. The Gophers opened up the season with back-to-back wins against Northern Iowa and Charlotte before dropping their first game of the year at Creighton. Minnesota then followed up with three consecutive home wins against Kansas, Navy and Loyola. Minnesota is coached by Pam Borton, who is in her 12th season at the helm in Minneapolis. As a program, Minnesota has made eight NCAA Tournament appearances and reached the Final Four in 2004. 

Coverage
The Hurricanes’ game against Minnesota will be televised on the Big Ten Network at 9 p.m. E.T. Kevin Kugler will handle play-by-play duties, while Debbie Antonelli will be providing the color commentary.

Caprice, Caprice, Caprice is on Fire
Hurricanes’ sophomore Caprice Dennis has scored in double-figures in each of the four games she has played in this season, and enters the game with three-straight 20+ point performances. Dennis scored 23 points in each of Miami’s two games and took home MVP honors at the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament. 

Four in a Row
After starting the season 1-2, Miami has rattled off four straight wins against Oakland, Yale, St. Francis Brooklyn, and Missouri. Miami defeated St. Francis Brooklyn and Missouri en route to the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament championship.

The Coach
Miami is led by head coach Katie Meier, who is in her ninth season at the helm of the women’s basketball program in Coral Gables. Coach Meier has a record of 152-108 through eight-plus seasons at Miami and a career record of 228-153 as a head coach.

Following the game against Minnesota, the Hurricanes will have 10-day layoff before getting back to action at the BankUnited Center on Dec. 15 when they host Coppin State.
