@CanesVB Drops Weekend Finale at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – The University of Miami volleyball team dropped its road match against Duke in three sets Saturday.

The Canes (13-7, 6-4 ACC) fell 25-14,25-18 and 25-20 in the second of this weekend’s two-match road trip to North Carolina.

Miami’s attack amassed 31 total kills with junior outside hitter Savanah Leaf leading all Canes with nine kills against Duke.

Setters Blair Fuentez and Caitilin Donahoe combined for 28 assists, while defensive specialist Ryan Shaffer led the team with 11 digs.

Senior right side Alex Johnson and junior middle blocker Emani Sims each collected a team-high four blocks, while junior middle blocker Alexis Mourning had three blocks and was one of three Hurricanes to finish with six kills against the Blue Devils. Sims and sophomore outside hitter Misty Ma’a also contributed with six kills apiece.

Following this weekend’s trip to Wake Forest and Duke, Miami returns home for the first time since Oct. 13. The Canes will host NC State at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1. Two days later, the Hurricanes will host North Carolina at 1 p.m. in the Knight Sports Complex.
