EAST LANSING, Mich.  – The Miami Hurricanes women’s golf team shot a final-round 23-over 311 Sunday to finish seventh at the Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West Golf Course.

Miami concluded the two-day tournament with a final score of 54-over (305-302-311=918), 10 strokes outside of the top five. Ohio State finished second at 32-over 896, followed by Notre Dame at 42-over 906, Northwestern at 43-over 907 and Oregon at 44-over 908.

“The course was set up extremely difficult for the last two days,” head coach Patti Rizzo said. “The pins were ridiculous today. It was a tough adjustement for us coming from Miami greens.

“I still feel confident that our team is very strong,” Rizzo said. “We will be ready for our next event.”

Michigan State’s Liz Nagel claimed individual medalist honors, winning the Mary Fossum by three strokes.

Miami junior Leticia Ras-Anderica, who entered Sunday tied for fourth overall, shot a final-round 82 to finish the tournament tied for 17th at 12-over (74-72-82=228).
