WoMen's Hoops Celebrates Season with Banquet

COCONUT GROVE, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team held its annual postseason banquet Thursday night, celebrating the program’s 2012-13 season, at Monty’s.

The Hurricanes, led by eighth-year head coach Katie Meier recently finished their fourth straight 20-win season and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive year.

Miami seniors Morgan Stroman and Stefanie Yderstrom were a part of 97 wins in their four years at Miami, the second-most wins by a single class in program history. Each player earned first team All-ACC honors for their performance this season.

It was announced just before the banquet that the Canes’ other senior, Shawnice “Pepper” Wilson had signed a contract with the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx.

The banquet began with a meet and greet with the players and staff, before opening to a buffet in the restaurant’s indoor facility.

Following dinner, it was time to announce the team’s award winners, culminating in the Barbara Levenson Most Valuable Player presentation.
