Hirano Leads the Canes in Day Two of ACC Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Senior Jennifer Hirano turned in a 76 to pace the University of Miami on day two at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships Saturday at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
Duke continues to lead the team competition after the first 36 holes posting a 303 in the second round. The Blue Devils (583) sit 15-over par for the championship, which is nine strokes better than second place North Carolina (592). Florida State (third, 34-over 602), Virginia (t-fourth, 35-over 603) and Wake Forest (t-fourth, 35-over 603) finish out the top five. Miami sits in ninth place eight strokes away from Boston College.
Lindy Duncan of Duke takes over the individual leaderboard while sitting three-under par 139 for the tournament. Hirano shot 37 on the front nine and 39 on the back nine. She birdied on hole 18 and now is in 21st place with 10-over par for the tournament.
Freshmen Rika Park and Leticia Ras-Anderica are tied for 33rd after both shooting 79 in the second round. Park and Ras-Anderica are 15-over par for the tournament.
Sophomore Carina Cuculiza carded a 13-over par 84 and is 26-over par heading into the final day of tournament play.
The 54-hole tournament concludes with the final round on Sunday at the par-71, 6,163-yard course. The Hurricanes are paired with Boston College and North Carolina State during Sunday’s final round which will tee off at 8 a.m.
