CORAL GABLES, Fla. – A much anticipated first day at the BancorpSouth Rebel Intercollegiate ended with the Miami Hurricanes carding a 30-over-par 318.

Freshman Rika Park was the low-scorer for the Canes, carding a four-over-par 76. Her round included three birdies on holes number 4, 7, and 14, setting her just seven back of first place with two rounds remaining.

One stroke behind Park is Senior Jennifer Hirano. Hirano, coming out of her best finish two weeks ago, put up 11 pars and one birdie on the day. She ended the day five-over-par 77.

Freshman Leticia Ras-Anderica, who is currently ranked in the top-20 in the ACC, was able to maintain some consistency on the front nine, paring 6-of-9 holes, but hit a rough patch on the back nine bogeying on four holes and double bogeying on No. 11. She heads into day two with a score of nine-over-par 81.

Sophomore Carina Cuculiza and freshman Shannon Pak rounded out the Canes with scores of 12 and 13-over-par, respectively.

After today the Canes hope to come back strong, as an NCAA bid into the regional tournament remains in the balance. “A bad day for everyone, on the same day, is never a good combination. We can only get better,” said second-year assistant coach John Koskinen.

Tomorrow play resumes at 8 a.m. (ET) at the Ole Miss Golf Course. Live golf stats will be available through GolfStat.com, and for the most up-to-date info on Hurricanes golf follow us on Twitter at @hurricanesgolf.
