Williams Captures 60-meter Title at Iowa State Classic

Ames, Iowa–The University of Miami men’s and women’s track and field teams finished their weekend of split competition at the Tyson Invitational and the Iowa State Classic. The Hurricanes rode their success from the first day en route to another victory, a personal best and a bevy of quality performances.
At the Iowa State Classic, senior ACC Champion Tarika Williams took another victory in the 60 meters with a time of 7.44. Sophomore Alyssa McClure finished right behind Williams with a time of 7.60.
Sophomore Lindsi Arrington ran a personal-best time of 4:57.65 in the seeded mile. Senior Austin Rector ran the second-best time in school history with an aggressive race, finishing the 600 yards in 1:13.56.
Senior Miranda Wilson threw a season-best 18.63 meters (61-1.5) in the seeded weight throw, and senior Brian Laskowski ran a strong season-best 1:52.54 in the seeded 800 meters.
At the Tyson Invitational, senior All-American Devon Hill placed fourth in a strong field with a time of 7.79 seconds.
