CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami hurdler Ti’erra Brown has been named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Track Performer of the Year, as announced by the organization on Monday.

“I’m happy to be named the South Region Athlete of the Year,” said Brown. “Coach Deem has been telling me all year that I will be fine and I’m in a good position to do great things.”

Brown, already a five time All-America selection, won her first ACC title this season when she cruised to victory in the 100m hurdles. The Hampton, Va. native has not finished lower than second in a hurdle final this year, with season-best times of 12.94 and 56.25 seconds in the 100 and 400m hurdles respectively.

The senior will be competing in both the 100 and 400m hurdles this week at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa at Drake Stadium.

“This will be my last meet as a UM student-athlete,” added Brown. “I want to go out with a bang. I would love to become a National Champion and I think I have what it takes to bring that title back to Miami.”

Brown is the fifth Miami woman to earn an USTFCCCA region award, joining UM greats Murielle Ahoure, Wylleshia Myrick, Khadija Talley and Tabia Charles.
