JACKSONVILLE – Devon Hill advanced to the final of the 110m hurdles in preliminary action in the first of two days of competition at the North Florida Invitational Friday evening at UNF’s Hodges Stadium Track and Field Facility.

The junior hurdler completed the race at the top collegiate finisher, outpacing 11 other student-athletes. Though wind aided (2.6), Hill’s time of 13.65 seconds was the best of his season and if not for the wind, would have tied the school’s all-time record.

Hill will compete in Saturday’s final at 2:55 p.m.

Also competing Friday evening was freshman Bassim El-Sabawi in the 100m dash. The San Diego native cruised to a personal-best time 10.67 seconds.

Also competing on Saturday will be the 4x100m relay. Travis Benjamin will be joined by fellow football players Brandon McGee and Lamar Miller as three-fourths of the 4×100 relay team that will compete on Saturday at 2 p.m. Hill or El-Sabawi will run the remaining leg as the squad will look to improve on their season-best time of 40.56 seconds in order to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, held this year at Indiana University May 26-28.
