`Canes Will Hold Scrimmage at Traz Powell Stadium

Coral Gables, Fla.–The University of Miami football team is coming to a stadium near you. The Hurricanes will play their April 9 BankUnited Canes Fest scrimmage at Miami-Dade’s Traz Powell Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 10 a.m., and the event is free and open to the public. 

Parking at Traz Powell Stadium will open at 8 a.m. and will be free of charge. There will be a Coffee with the ‘Canes session available to Silver Cane and above Hurricane Club members from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The scrimmage will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Contact Hurlie Brown in the Hurricane Club at 305-284-6883 for additional information.

UM will also hold a public scrimmage on April 2 at Spanish River High School in Palm Beach County, and the annual Spring Game is set for April 16 at Lockhart Stadium. 

Traz Powell Stadium is located on the campus of Miami-Dade College’s North Campus. The facility is named after Nathaniel “Traz” Powell, who was the first African-American athlete to score a touchdown in Orange Bowl Stadium.

The ‘Canes start their first spring under Al Golden on Saturday, March 5.
