Ronderos Shoots Even Par to Lead `Canes in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Maria Ronderos shot an even par 72 Sunday to lead the `Canes to second place after round one of the JU Classic. Miami (299) is only one stroke behind host Jacksonville (298) with two rounds to go at Hidden Hills Country Club.

The last time the Hurricanes eclipsed 300 as a team was the third round of the Kiawah Classic on February 23, 2009 when they clinched the tournament victory.

Ronderos is tied for first place overall with Kristen Boettcher of Jacksonville, while junior Jennifer Hirano sits in a tie for fourth with +2 round of 74. Senior Christina Hirano is also in the top ten after shooting a 76. Carina Cuculiza (77) and Patricia Arana (80) also played well to contribute to the team effort.

Arana will be the first to tee off for Miami Monday morning at 10:21 a.m. with the rest of team to follow in intervals concluded by Ronderos at 10:57 a.m. Check HurricaneSports.com with the latest updates from Jacksonville.
