Tarika Williams Shines in 200m Dash at Virginia Tech Elite

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The University of Miami track and field team wrapped-up the Virginia Tech Elite and saw a solid performance from Tarika Williams and the return of its most decorated student-athlete.
Williams and Takecia Jameson took the top two spots in the 200m dash respectively. Williams crossed the finish line in 23.62 seconds – the third fastest time in the event in school history and Jameson finished in 24.00 seconds.
Five-time All-America selection Ti’erra Brown made her season-debut as she ran the third leg of the 4×400 relay team that finished second with a time of 3:39.16. The first two legs were run by freshman Thandi Stewart and Takecia Jameson with the anchor going to Jennifer Estime.
Brown’s leg of 53.62 was the fastest of any competitor with 13 teams competing.
The men’s 4×400 relay team of Devon Hill, Jeffery Lewis, Evan Hadrick and Garrett Nygren ran a season-best time of 3:18.72 in the
Megan Novinger was one of four high jumpers that reached a height of 1.74m (5-08.50) – the highest mark of the day.
The Hurricanes have one more meet in preparation for the ACC Championships and that’s next weekend’s Tyson Ivitational – one of the most prestigious collegiate indoor races in the country. The meet is held on the University of Arkansas’ campus and will take place Feb. 11 and 12.
