Rachel Dupree Excels in Pentathlon at McCravey Memorial

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Hurricanes Track and Field team returns to action after a two-week layoff at the University of Kentucky’s McCravy Memorial Track and Field Meet at the Nutter Field House on Friday and Saturday.
With her performance in the pentathlon, junior Rachel Dupree moved into third place in the Miami record books with 3,576 points. Dupree led teammates Britney Clarke and Nicole Cummings in the multi-event that features the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and the 800m run.
The meet continues on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with field events, followed by the running events at 12 p.m.
For the first time this season, the Hurricanes will feature football speedsters Travis Benjamin, Brandon McGee and Lamar Miller and each will run in the 60m dash.
Also in action will be the Atlantic Coast Conference’s reigning 60m hurdle champion Devon Hill. In the season’s first meet, Hill won the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.79 seconds – just .01 seconds shy of his own school record. In addition to the hurdles, the junior is also scheduled to run a leg of the 4×400 relay.
Junior long jumper Jason Johnson claimed the first individual title of his career at the Clemson Challenge and will look to do the same on Saturday.
On the women’s side, All-America selections Tameka and Takecia Jameson will be competing. Tameka will run in the 200m dash and Takecia is set for the 60m hurdles. Both are scheduled to run in the 4×400 relay.
Ashley Dukes, winner of the 2010 ACC Championship in the 60m dash will be joined by Charlene Fuller, Elyse Houston, Alyssa McClure and Tarika Williams in the event.
