Williams Leads 'Canes to 17th Straight Win, 65-53 over BC

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) – Riquna Williams scored a season-high 33 points to help No. 22 Miami win its 17th straight game with a 65-53 victory over Boston College on Sunday.
Miami (18-1, 4-0 ACC), with its smaller and quicker players, used pressure defense to rally from a seven-point deficit against Atlantic Coast Conference rival Boston College (14-4, 1-2).
The Hurricanes came up with 19 steals and had a 31-11 turnover advantage to overcome being outrebounded 48-27.
Speedy guards Williams and Shenise Johnson, the top two scorers in the ACC, led the way for Miami. Williams had 21 of her points in the second half and made 6 3-pointers. Johnson had 13 of her 22 points in the second half.
Miami’s defense held BC way under its 84.9 scoring average coming into the game.
Caroyln Swords had 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Eagles while Stefanie Murphy added 10 points and 15 boards.
