Ronderos Earns Top 10 Finish at Waterlefe Invitational

BRADENTON, Fla. – Senior Maria Ronderos registered her first top 10 finish of the season and sixth of her career to lead the University of Miami women’s golf team at the USF Waterlefe Invitational hosted by USF at the Waterlefe Golf Club Tuesday.

Daytona State took the team title in the 19-team field at 20-over par 884. Nova Southeastern (892), USF (908), Middle Tennessee State (911) and Southern Miss (920) all placed in the top five. Miami finished 17th after shooting 965.

Ronderos shot four-over par 76 in the final round. She recorded two birdies and made par on 10 of the 18 holes. She finished six-over par 222 for the tournament and tied for sixth place. Freshman Carina Cuculiza posted an 80 in her final round, which included a pair of birdies.

Senior Christina Hirano shot 83 while sophomore walk-on Melanie Kleiner shot 84 and junior walk-on Diana Fisher shot 88 to finish out the tournament for the Hurricanes.

Miami returns to action Oct. 11-12 at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina.
