Women's Golf Wraps Up Play at UCF Challenge

SORRENTO, Fla. – Junior Maria Ronderos posted a six-over par 78 in the final round to lead the University of Miami women’s golf team on the final day of the UCF Challenge Tuesday at the RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.

Miami shot 315 in the final round to finish 16th. Texas A&M (893) edged out Georgia State (895) by two strokes to win the tournament. Coastal Carolina (904) placed third followed by College of Charleston (905) and Baylor (907) to round out the top five.

Ronderos picked up one birdie on the day. She played her best on the back nine when she shot one-over par 37. She tied for 36th.

Sophomores Jennifer Hirano, Begona Sarabia and freshman Shelby Gilbert each shot seven-over par 79. Gilbert birdied twice on the back nine while Hirano had a birdie on the front nine. Gilbert also finished in the top 50 tying for 44th.

The Hurricanes will next be in action on April 5-6 when they host the Canes and Cardinal Classic at the Don Shula’s Golf Resort in Miami Lakes.
