UM Women's Golf Finishes 11th at Eat-A-Peach Collegiate

MACON, Ga. – Sophomore Jennifer Hirano shot five-over par 77 Monday to finish in a tie for 13th place as the University of Miami women’s golf team finished 11th at the Eat-A-Peach Collegiate hosted by Mercer University at the Idle Hour Country Club.
Georgia (599) won the team title. Florida State (600) and Furman (600) tied for second while Coastal Carolina (606) and Georgia State (607) finished out the tournament’s top five. The tournament included two top 10 teams in Florida State and Georgia and seven other teams ranked in the top 100.
After shooting two-over par on the first day of the tournament, Hirano shot a 37 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine. She again shot even par on 14 of the 18 holes.
Junior Maria Ronderos followed Hirano by shooting seven-over par 79 to finish tied for 30th. Freshman Shelby Gilbert rallied on day two to shoot five-over par 77 and tie for 36th place.
Freshman Jaime Ritter shot 89 while fellow freshman Melanie Kleiner shot 94 to finish out Miami’s five.
The Hurricanes take this weekend off before returning to action Oct. 19-20 at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina in Greenville, N.C.
