GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Maria Ronderos posted a 74 in the final round as the University of Miami finished eighth at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships Sunday at the Sedgefield Country Club.

 

Wake Forest won the team title posting a 287 in the final round. The Demon Deacons (869) shot 17-over to claim the championship, which was 24 strokes better than second place North Carolina (893) who edged Duke (894) by a stroke. NC State (896) and Virginia (907) finished out the top five. Miami shot 316 on the final day to move past Boston College. Wake Forest sophomore Natalie Sheary captured the ACC individual title after defeating Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst in a playoff. Both golfers finished the tournament one-over par 214.

 

Ronderos posted Miami’s best score of the weekend going three-over par for the day to finish 24th overall. She shot par on 15 of the 18 holes as she shot 37 on the front and back nines. Freshman Jennifer Hirano tied for 25th after shooting 81 in the final round.

 

Freshman Begona Sarabia posted Miami’s second top score on the day as she shot five-over par 76 which included two eagles on the front nine. She shot 35 in the first nine holes. Senior Anabelle Paulino carded an 85 to finish out the scoring for the Hurricanes. Sarabia tied for 37th place while Paulino finished 41st.
