Hirano Leads Miami on Day Two at ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Jennifer Hirano turned in a 76 to pace the University of Miami on day two at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships Saturday at the Sedgefield Country Club.

 

Wake Forest continues to lead the team competition after the first 36 holes posting a 296 in the second round. The Demon Deacons (582) sit 14-over for the championship, which is 17 strokes better than second place Duke (599). NC State (600), Virginia (605) and North Carolina (606) finish out the top five. Miami still sits in ninth place three strokes away from Boston College.

 

Wake Forest’s sophomore Natalie Sheary continues to lead all individuals while sitting two-under 140 for the tournament.

 

Hirano shot 37 on the front nine and 39 on the back nine. She eagled on hole 4 and now is tied for 21st at 14-over for the tournament. Sophomore Maria Ronderos is tied for 26th after shooting 81 in the second round. Ronderos is 18-over for the tournament.

 

Senior Anabelle Paulino carded an 83 while freshman Begona Sarabia shot 86 to finish out the scoring for the Hurricanes.

 

The 54-hole tournament concludes with the final round on Sunday at the par-71, 6,355-yard course. The Hurricanes are paired with Maryland and Boston College during Sunday’s final round which will tee off at 8 a.m.

ACC Select will broadcast a free webcast of the championship with coverage of the No. 17 and No. 18 holes. The broadcast is slated to begin at approximately 1 p.m. Sunday’s rounds.
