Ronderos Leads Hurricanes on Day One at John Kirk/Panther

University of Miami sophomore Maria Ronderos carded a 73 and 77 in her first two rounds to pace the Hurricanes on day one of the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia State at 6,074 yard par 72 Eagle’s Landing Country Club Monday.
Miami sits in ninth place after shooting 613 – nine strokes out of the top five. UM shot 305 in the opening round before posting a 308 in the second round. Host team Georgia State leads the tournament with a 588 followed by East Tennessee State (590) and Furman (590), which are both tied for second. Chattanooga (595) and Campbell (604) round out the top five. Furman’s Stefanie Kenoyer carded an opening day 73 and 69 for a 142 for the individual 36-hole lead.
Ronderos is six-over for the tournament with a two-round total of 150 which ties for 14th place. Freshman Jennifer Hirano shot nine-over par 153 which ties for 31st after shooting 76 in round one and 77 in round two. Sophomore Christina Hirano and freshman Begona Sarabia each shot 11-over par 155. Christina Hirano carded a 77 and 78 in the first and second rounds respectively while Sarabia had a 79 and 76 in the first and second rounds.
The teams wrap up play in the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate Tuesday morning.
