Women's Golf Fifth at Lady Pirate Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Sophomore Maria Ronderos and freshman Jennifer Hirano each shot a three-over par 74 as the University of Miami women’s golf team sits in fifth placeafter day one at the 2008 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina University at the Greenville Country Club.
Georgia State, East Carolina, Nebraska and Georgetown are ahead of the Hurricanes. Miami is nine strokes out of first place after shooting a 308 to sit 24-over par for the tournament.
Ronderos shot 37 on both the front and back nine. She birdied on the second hole of the day. Jennifer Hirano shot 36 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine. She picked up birdies on holes four and six.
Senior Anabelle Paulino shot 79 and is tied for 42nd while sophomore Christina Hirano shot 81 and freshman Begona Sarabia shot 88 to round out day one.
The Hurricanes continue play in the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate Monday. Tee time is 8 a.m.
