Golf in 12th Place at UNCG Starmount Fall Classic

Sophomore Maria Ronderos posted a five-over par 76 in the second round Monday and the University of Miami women’s golf team moved up three spots to 12th place at the 2008 UNCG Starmount Fall Classic hosted by the University of North Carolina-Greensboro at the Starmount Country Club.
Miami bounced back after a tough opening round on Sunday to shoot 310 as a team in round two. Ronderos paced the Hurricanes putting together a 37 on the front nine before shooting 39 on the back nine. She is tied for 33rd place heading into the final round on Tuesday.
Freshman Jennifer Hirano continued her strong start at Miami. After opening up the tournament with a five-over par 76 Sunday, she shot 78 Monday in round two and like Ronderos, is 12-over par heading into the final day Tuesday. She shot 39 on both the front nine and back nine.
Sophomore Christina Hirano is tied for 43rd after posting the Hurricanes’ second best score Tuesday. She shot a six-over par 77, which puts her 15-over par for the tournament.
Senior Anabelle Paulino turned in one of her best rounds of the fall season with an eight-over par 79 to move into a tie for 75th place. Freshman Begona Sarabia shot 85 in round two.
The Hurricanes have a two-day total of 626. Miami will wrap up play in the Starmount Fall Classicw Tuesday. Tee time is 8:54 a.m. for the Hurricanes.
