Hirano Leads Miami in Round Two of ACC Golf Championship

Daytona Beach, Fla. – University of Miami freshman Christina Hirano shot a 76 to lead the Hurricanes in round two of the ACC Women’s Golf Championship at the Legends Course of LPGA International on Saturday. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
She shot a one-over-par 73 in the opening round and with Saturday’s 76, sits in a tie for 14th place with 149 strokes entering Sunday’s final round.
Duke and Virginia are in a tie for the team lead with 579 strokes apiece, while the Hurricanes are in eighth place with a 615 total. Miami is just two strokes behind sixth-place Maryland and nine strokes out of fifth place.
Miami’s Maria Ronderos shot a 77 on Saturday to tie for 19th place (74-77-151), while Jessica Steward dropped four strokes off her opening-round total to shoot a 76 (80-76-156) to tie for 28th place. Hagen Weintraub dropped into a tie for 37th place after firing off an 86 (73-86-159), while Brooke Stuart remains in 45th place (92-93-185).
Virginia’s Calle Nielson took the lead after consecutive rounds of 70 to finish four-under-par through two rounds (70-70-140).
The third and final round of the 54-hole ACC Championship begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
