Hurricanes in Sixth After Round One of ACC Golf Championship

Daytona Beach, Fla. – University of Miami golfers Christina Hirano and Hagen Weintraub are in a tie for eighth place after round one of the ACC Women’s Golf Championship at the Legends Course of LPGA International.

Both Hirano and Weintraub shot a one-over-par 73 to lead the Hurricanes, who are in sixth place with a combined 300 strokes heading into Saturday’s round two.

Virginia took the early lead, as the Cavaliers finished with a four-under-par 284, while Duke is 10 strokes back in second place.

Miami’s Maria Ronderos shot a two-over par 74 to sit in a tie for 11th place, while Jessica Steward finished with an 80 to tie for 39th and Brooke Stuart fired off a 92 to place 45th after the first day of competition.

Virginia’s Joy Kim shot a three-under-par 69 to lead all golfers on Friday.

Round two of the ACC Championships begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
