Miami Lakes, Fla.– Inclement weather and resulting course conditions cut short round two of the Canes and Cardinal Classic on Monday afternoon at Don Shula’s Golf Resort. Play will continue on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
The players had made it about halfway through the second round when lightening and heavy rain canvassed the area. Although the inclement weather subsided, course conditions forced the delay of play until Tuesday morning.
Following Monday’s first round, a pair of Hurricanes were ranked among the top 10. Freshman Christina Hirano and senior Hagen Weintraub fired off a one-over par 73 in the opening round to tie for ninth place, as the co-host University of Miami women’s golf team is in eighth place of 14 teams with a first-round total of 300.
Co-host Louisville began the second round in first place, led by Cindy LaCrosse who sits atop the leaderboard after shooting a five-under par 67 in the opening round.
Round 1, originally scheduled for an 8 a.m. shotgun start, was delayed until 9:30 a.m. because of heavy rain. Following the conclusion of the second round on Tuesday, the players will directly begin the third and final round.
