MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – Miami senior Jessica Steward shot a final-round, five-over-par 77 at the fourth annual Qdoba Collegiate Championships to finish tied for second overall in the final individual standings at Don Shula’s Golf Club.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Steward, who shot a 71 (-1) and 72 (E) during Sunday and Monday’s first and second rounds respectively, finished the three-day tournament four-over with a total of 220 which placed her into a three-way tie with Kentucky’s Mallory Blackwelder and San Jose State’s Erica Moston for second place overall. <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>East Carolina’s Abby Bools edged out the trio by two strokes to claim the individual championship with a two-over 218.
Combined, the Hurricanes put together a final round 308 to finish fourth overall with a three-day total 907 (+43). Led by Bools, East Carolina won the overall team championship with a 23-over-par 887, 14 strokes ahead of tournament runner up Louisville.
UM freshman Christina Hirano finished tied for 18th with a 12-over 228, freshman Maria Ronderos finished tied for 24th with a 13-over 229, senior Hagen Weintraub placed 27th with a 14-over 230, freshman Brooke Stuart finished 66th with a 57-over 273.
