Miami fought to the very end in a 70-75 overtime loss to FloridaState last Thursday.  In that overtime period the Hurricanes were only able to hit  only one of their seven field-goal attempts and only two of six free-throws.

Albrey Grimsley had a career-day in the loss.  The senior reached career-highs in both points and assists, with 21 and 11.  Her double-double was the fourth time that a Miami player has accomplished the feat in 2007-2008.  Lamese James has two while Maurita Reid recorded one in the season’s opening game against Florida Atlantic.

A Look at Maryland

Maryland, the fifth ranked team in the nation, is coming off a tough 97-86 double overtime loss to third-ranked North Carolina this past Saturday night.  The Terrapins have lost only to top-five teams, in UNC and Rutgers.

The Terps are a powerful offensive team averaging 82.7 points per game.  There are four players that average double figures, in Kristi Toliver (17.0), Marissa Coleman (16.5), Crystal Langhorne (15.9) and Laura Harper (14.1).

The Series

Miami has played the Terrapins a total of seven times, winning only once, and never on Maryland’s home court.

These teams first met in 1987 with a Maryland victory.  The Hurricanes lone victory came during the 2002-03 season, 97-66 in Coral Gables.

Miami suffered the most lopsided loss in school history to the Terps, Jan. 10 of last season, 111-53
