Rowing Set To Race In Rivanna Romp Sunday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing team will conclude the fall portion of their schedule this weekend as the Hurricanes head to Charlottesville, Va. to compete in the University of Virginia’s Rivanna Romp, Sunday, Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. The race, being held at the Rivanna Reservoir, will feature five teams from around the country in addition to UM.

Joining the Hurricanes on the water includes Georgetown, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas and host Virginia. Three of the teams competing, Ohio State, Tennessee and Virginia, finished in the top 10 at the 2007 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships.

“I am really looking forward to watching our team compete against some of the best teams in the country,” head coach Robbie Tenenbaum said. “Our entire team has been working hard all fall and we’re excited to see how we compare with the best programs out there.”

Events scheduled to take place include the varsity eight and novice eight as well as small boat competitions.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for the athletes and coaches that we are going to compete against this weekend,” Tenenbaum said. “There should be some great racing in Charlottesville on Sunday.”
