Miami Takes Fourth Place at Myrtle Beach Classic

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior Jessica Steward fired a 71 Tuesday to lead the University of Miami women’s golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Myrtle Beach Classic held at the 6,136-yard Grande Dunes Resort Golf Club.
Following up on Monday’s first round which saw her register a one-over-par 73, Steward put together a final round, one-under 71 to finish tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard with a two-day total 144.
Collectively, the Hurricanes – playing in their second tournament of the year – finished fourth in the 15-team field with a total 596 (299-297).
Heading into the final round tied for 24th, senior Hagen Weintraub put together a 72 during Tuesday’s final round to climb into a tie for 11th place with a two-round score of 147.
Freshman Maria Ronderos (73-75–148) trialed Weintraub by one stroke to finish tied for 14th while fellow classman Christina Hirano placed 49th with a 157 (78-79).
Junior Anabelle Paulino tied for 69th with a two-round total 164 (81-83).
Miami returns to action Saturday traveling to Lexington, Ky. to take part in the three-day, three-round Wildcat Fall Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky.
