UM PRACTICES LIGHT TO PREPARE FOR SECOND SCRIMMAGE
Aug. 14, 2007
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – – The University of Miami Hurricanes held a short practice Tuesday morning as the team prepared for its second closed scrimmage of the preseason slated for Wednesday morning. UM worked out in shells for about one-hour and 15 minutes.
“It was a short day today,” UM head coach Randy Shannon said. “We worked on more situational things. We’ll know more after tomorrow’s scrimmage.”
Shannon announced that redshirt freshman running back Kylan Robinson has moved to linebacker. Robinson, who hails from Anchorage Alaska, practiced for the first time with the unit on Tuesday.
“We just needed a little more depth at linebacker at this time,” Shannon said. “We asked him to move. He said he wanted to do what was best to help the team. He’s an athlete, so you can play athletes at any position.”
Shannon also said that defensive lineman Dwayne Hendricks practiced on Tuesday after being injured on Monday.
The Hurricanes’ second closed scrimmage of the preseason will follow the same format as the first. “We’re getting used to game-type situations,” Shannon said. “The more you can practice game-type situations. It makes it easier for the players.”
