Miami Knocks off San Francisco 69-59 on the Road

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Junior guard Maurita Reid scored a team-high 15 points and pulled down game-high 10 rebounds to lead Miami to a 69-59 victory over San Francisco Sunday afternoon at War Memorial Gym.
Miami (4-1) sophomore forward Brittany Denson added 14 points and eight rebounds while sophomore guard LaToya Cunningham came off the bench to score 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the three-point arc in the win over the Dons (1-3).
After taking a 35-30 lead into the half, Miami allowed San Francisco to tie the game at 39-all just under five minutes into the second half.
The Dons’ Dominique Carter, who finished with a game-high 20 points, pushed San Francisco up 41-39 on San Francisco’s next possession.
With 11:53 remaining, UM freshman forward Charmaine Clark hit a three to put UM up 45-44.
After trading baskets over the next five minutes, the Hurricanes put together a 12-3 run to extend the lead to 10 points at 63-53 with 3:31 left to play before taking the eventual 69-59 victory.
Miami returns to action Friday taking on Nicholls State at 7 p.m. in the second game of the UM Thanksgiving Tournament.
