No.1 Ranked Audra Cohen Advance to the Main Draw Semi-Finals at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

PASDENA, Calif. – Senior Audra Cohen will be the only University of Miami player represented in the semi-finals singles of the 2006 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Saturday at 12:30 p.m. (PST).

Cohen defeated No.14 ranked Zuzana Cerna of Baylor 6-3, 6-2 Friday in second round singles. Following this match, she faced No.9 ranked Diana Srebrovic of Florida 6-4, 6-3 in the quarter finals to advance to the semi finals round in singles.

Saturday, Cohen will take on No.19 ranked Melanie Gloria of Fresno State.

Freshman Laura Vallverdu loss to No.8 ranked Lindsey Nelson of Southern California 6-1, 6-4 Friday in the second round of singles.

In quarter final doubles, Audrey Banada and Romy Farah were defeated by No.3 ranked Catrina and Christina Thompson of Notre Dame, 8-3.

Cohen and Vallverdu automatically advanced to the next round in doubles due to a walk over in the consolation match. They will play Oregon Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. (PST).
