Hurricanes Take Down UCF 82-72

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Hurricanes had three players score double figures, highlighted by junior guard Renee Taylor who turned in a 23-point outing to lead Miami past in-state rival UCF 82-72 Tuesday night at UCF Arena.
Along with Taylor, senior forward Tamara James hit double digits with 19 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists followed by senior forward Melissa Knight’s 17 points as the Hurricanes (8-2) earned their first road victory of the season.
Defensively, the Hurricanes converted 25 turnovers by the Golden Knights (2-8) into 29 points while recording 18 steals.
After taking a four-point 34-30 lead into halftime, the Hurricanes hit the second half with a since of urgency, hitting 8-of-11 shots from behind the three-point line and 15-of-24 shots from the field to outscore UCF 48-42 in the second half.
Miami led as much as 16 points in the second half before going to take the 10-point 72-82 victory.
The Hurricanes return to action next Wednesday hosting North Carolina A&T in the Hurricane Holiday Tournament which will also feature 24th-ranked Ole Miss and Maine Dec. 28-29.
