Miami will tip-off with cross-town rival Florida International Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the BankUnited Center.

Coming off back-to-back wins last weekend, first-year head coach Katie Meier the Hurricanes are 5-1 for just the 10th time in the school’s 34-year history. A large portion of UM’s success of late has been the result of their defensive efforts which have forced an average of 29 turnovers by opponents over the last two games. Miami also currently ranks third in the ACC in turnover margin (+6.17) giving up an average of just 17.5 turnovers per game.Senior All-America candidate Tamara James tops the ACC in scoring (23.5 ppg), free throw percentage (.966) and steals (3.00 spg). James has scored 20 or more points in four-straight games and has hit double-digit scoring marks in 37-consecutive contest.Senior guard Melissa Knight ranks second on the team and 13th in the league in scoring (12.7 ppg) while freshman center Brittany Denson sits at eighth in the ACC in blocks (1.80 bpg).

The Golden Panthers Florida International is 4-1 on the year after suffering their first loss of the season last time out at Kentucky (71-56). The Golden Panthers have limited opponents to just 57.4 points per game and just .352 percent shooting from the field.FIU has a trio of players averaging double-digit scoring in Lasma Jekabsone (12.4 ppg), Faeza Bouderra (12.2 ppg) and Eva Makela (10.0 ppg). Jekasbsone also leads the team in rebounding with 10.2 boards per game.The Series Tuesday’s game will mark the 51st meeting between the Hurricanes and the Golden Panthers. Miami holds a 30-20 advantage in the all-time series, but FIU has taken four of the last five contest including last year’s match-up, a 67-62 decision at FIU.
