No. 12 Texas Tech Hands UM 109-49 Loss

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech’s Alesha Robertson hit a school-record setting nine three pointers to lift the 12th ranked Lady Red Raiders past the University of Miami women’s basketball team, 109-49, Monday night at the United Spirit Arena.
Robertson went 9-of-12 from behind the arc in route to a game-high 37 points. Texas Tech’s (3-1) Cisti Greenwalt posted a double-double on the night, grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with 20 points.
Junior Tamara James led the Hurricanes (3-5) with 16 points followed by 13 points from freshman Albrey Grimsley.
Following a pair of quick three’s by Robertson in the game’s opening minutes, the Lady Red Raiders took a 6-0 lead and would never trail the Hurricanes.
Up by as much as 39 points at 63-24, Texas Tech took a 65-26 lead int the half shooting nearly 53 from the field while holding UM under 26 percent.
Texas Tech cruised through the second half, never allowing the Hurricanes within 33 points of the lead to take the 112-43 victory.
Texas Tech’s 109 points marked the first time an opponent has scored 100 points against UM since 1986 when the Hurricanes lost 112-43 to top-ranked Texas which was also the worst loss in school history.
The Hurricanes return to Coral Gables to take on in-state foe UCF at 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center December 13.
