Hurricanes Close out Fall Season at the Fall Freshman Regatta and the Rivanna Romp

Coral Gables, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing team will close out their 2004 fall schedule at the Fall Freshman Regatta Saturday in Melbourne, Fla. and the Rivanna Romp in Charlottesville, Va. on Sunday.
Miami’s novice crew will take part in the F.I.R.A (Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association) Fall Freshman Regatta which will be hosted by the Florida Institute of Technology and will take place on Canal 54. This will be the first race for the novice crew this fall season.
The Rivanna Romp will begin Sunday on the Rivanna Reservoir and will be hosted by the University of Virginia. Ohio State, Clemson, Tennessee, Duke, Cincinnati and North Carolina are among the crews competing in the regatta. Ohio State is the reigning champion, having won the Rivanna Romp the past three years.
Events will consist of eight, four and doubles competitions. The Hurricanes will enter two varsity boats, two varsity 4 boats, on quad and three pairs.
“Our crews are excited about going up against some of the toughest crews in the nation this weekend,” said head coach Debra Morgan. “It’s a great opportunity to see the crews that are achieving now and what our team hopes to be achieving in the near future.”
