Hurricane Senior Class Honored Against UCF in Regular-Season Finale

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Seniors Britney Butcher, Andrea Radice, Gitana Gotay and Anik Huffman will play in their final home match at Cobb Stadium Thursday night when the University of Miami soccer team host in-state rival UCF at 7 p.m.
Miami enters Thursday’s match with an overall record of 3-9-0 and will look to rebound from a tough 1-0 loss to Florida State Tuesday in Coral Gables.
The Golden Knights are 12-3-1 on the year behind a potent offensive attack, averaging 2.77 goals per match this season.
UCF holds a one-game lead at 3-2 in the all-time series between the in-state rivals after downing the Hurricanes 1-0 last season in Orlando.
UM will honor the senior class of Butcher, Radice, Gotay and Huffman prior to match, recognizing each player for their accomplishments as Hurricanes both on and off the field over the past four seasons.
Butcher has made her mark throughout the UM record books during her four-year career. The Bothell, Wash. native is UM’s all-time leader in goals, game-winning goals, shots and points. She also holds the Hurricane record for goals in a season, posting 16 during her sophomore season in 2002.. In her freshman season, she was named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie team after leading the Hurricanes with 24 points.
Radice, who hails from Hialeah, Fla., has mainstay in the Hurricane lineup during her career, starting in each every match over the past two seasons while playing in all but one match over the past four seasons. She has connected on six goals and 18 points as a Hurricane playing as a forward, midfielder and a defender while at UM.
Gotay has been one of Miami’s most inspiration players throughout her tenure at UM. Since arriving from Sandy, Utah as a freshman in 2001, Gotay has played in all put two matches in four years, seeing action in 68 of 70 matches. She has netted four goals on her career, highlighted by her sophomore season in which she totaled a career-best 25 shots with two goals.
Huffman, who came to UM from Winter Park, Fla., has been a leader both on and off the field for the Hurricanes since 2001. The senior co-captain started every match as a true freshman in 2001 before going to score four career goals and 10 career assists in her four years at Miami.
