Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami freshman Tim Harris, Jr. (Miami Booker T. Washington) has been named one of 17 Nike Athletes of the Year honoring the top high school track and field athletes from last season.

Harris had a dominating senior season at Miami Booker T. Washington capturing the Florida Class 3A State title in the 800-meters as well as the 800-meter title at the Adidas National Scholastic Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

His winning time of 1:49.30 at the Adidas Championships ranked as the 10th fastest in the world last season by a runner under 20 years of age. The time was also the top by a high school runner in Florida and second-fastest by a prep runner in the United States.

Harris went on to win the 800-meters at the USA Track and Field Junior National Championships and represented the United States at the IAAF World Junior Championships this summer in Grosseto, Italy.
