Women's Hoops Holds Off West Virginia, 82-74

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) – Chanivia Broussard scored 25 points to lead No. 21Miami, which withstood a late rally by West Virginia in an 82-74 victorySaturday night.
Miami (21-5, 10-5 Big East) led by as many as 20 points in the second half,but West Virginia put together a 12-2 run and got to 74-68 on Kate Bulger’s3-pointer with 37 seconds remaining. She had eight 3-pointers – including fourin the final 1:42 – and finished with 28 points for West Virginia (19-8, 10-5).
Yalonda McCormick hit all six of her free-throw attempts in the final 32second to seal the victory for Miami. She finished with 14 points.
The Mountaineers trailed early but got to 19-17 on a 3-pointer by Bulgerwith 9:30 remaining in the first half. Miami closed the half with an 18-9 runfor a 37-26 lead at the break.
The Hurricanes opened the second half with a 9-0 run to take a 20-pointlead, and West Virginia trailed 72-56 when Broussard fouled out with 2:12 leftto play.
Melissa Knight, Shaquana Wilkins and Tamara James added 12 points apiece forMiami.
