SYRACUSE, N.Y.-The No. 22 ranked University of Miami women’s basketball team travels to face Syracuse Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Manley Field House.

The Hurricanes (18-4, 7-4 BIG EAST) enter the contest on a two-game winning streak after knocking off No. 21 Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon.

Syracuse (6-16, 3-9 BIG EAST) is currently on an eight-game losing streak, falling at Seton Hall 79-71 Saturday.

Miami is currently in sixth place in the BIG EAST standings at 7-4, while Syracuse is in 12th place at 3-9.

This will be the 23rd meeting between Miami and Syracuse. Miami leads the all-time series 16-6. Miami won two-of-three meetings between the two teams last season. The Hurricanes are 5-4 all-time when playing in Syracuse. Miami won the last meeting in Manley Field House 85-68 last season.

Tamara James leads the team in scoring with 16.2 points per game and Shaquana Wilkins leads the team with 8.3 rebounds per game. Four of Miami’s starting five average double figures.

James is leading the list of 12 sophomores in the nation approaching the 1,000 point career-mark. She scored 650 (21.0 ppg) points last season and has 340 (16.2 ppg) so far this season putting her career total at 990 (10 points shy of 1,000) entering tonight’s contest with Syracuse.

One SU starter is averaging in double figures; Julie McBride leads the team with 16.5 points per game.
