No. 21 Hurricanes Host Georgetown

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 21 Miami women’s basketball team hosts Georgetown in its BIG EAST home opener Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center.

The Hurricanes are undefeated at home this season at 6-0. UM enters the contest 13-1 overall and 2-1 in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas are 7-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Miami is coming off a 70-66 win over No. 20 Boston College Saturday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Georgetown led at halftime but eventually fell to No. 4 Connecticut 69-51 in Storrs, Conn. Saturday afternoon.

The Hurricanes and Hoyas will meet for the 23rd time. Miami is on a five-game winning streak over Georgetown and leads the all-time series 14-8.

In the last meeting the Hurricanes beat the Hoyas 73-71 in the Convocation Center on March 4, 2003.

Tamara James continues to lead the team in scoring with 16.1 points per game. Four of Miami’s five starters are averaging in double figures.

Senior Rebekkah Brunson averages a double-double with 16.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. Junior Mary Lisicky also averages in double figures for the Hoyas with 12.9 points per game.
