No. 24 Hurricanes Travel To Face Villanova

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The No. 24-ranked Miami women’s basketball team will put its 12-game win streak on the line Wednesday night facing BIG EAST foe Villanova at 7:30 p.m. in the Pavilion in Villanova, Pa.
The Hurricanes (12-0 overall, 1-0 BIG EAST) enter the contest ranked for the first time since the 1992-93 season. Miami earned its first conference win of the season, beating St. John’s 79-60 Saturday afternoon in Jamaica, N.Y.
The Wildcats (10-2 overall, 0-1 BIG EAST) had their 10-game win streak snapped by No. 22 Boston College Saturday night in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Miami is one of four teams in the nation that remains undefeated. The list includes; Minnesota (12-0), Texas Tech (14-0) and Virginia Tech (12-0).
The Hurricanes and Wildcats will meet for the 22nd time. VU leads the all-time series 12-9. Villanova is on a seven-game winning streak over Miami.
VU beat Miami 65-59 in the BIG EAST tournament last season.
Miami has not beaten Villanova in the Pavilion since a 64-60 victory during the 1993-94 season.
The Hurricanes wrapped up BIG EAST play with an 8-8 record last season. The Wildcats went 12-4 in conference play last year.
Tamara James continues to lead the team in scoring with 16.9 points per game. All five starters are averaging in double-digits.
Only one player averages in double figures for Villanova, sophomore Liad Suez averages 12.9 points per game.
